Updated 31st October 2020 / Government announced

The UK Government has this evening (31 October) announced a one-month lockdown of England, starting at midnight on Thursday 5 November and running until 2 December.

These new measures will see the closure of pubs, restaurants and non-essential retail.

People can continue to exercise for unlimited periods outdoors, either with people from their own households or on a one-to-one basis with one person from another household.

England Golf is working with the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Golf to study the detail, and to establish the exact restrictions on golf clubs and their facilities as the information becomes available.

We will communicate definitive guidance once received from government.

Please continue to consult our social media channels and the England Golf website for all updates via our dedicated coronavirus news pages. This includes our FAQs document which will be reviewed and refreshed at the earliest opportunity.

Our best wishes to you and your families. Please stay safe and well.

Jeremy Tomlinson, England Golf CEO

Updated 30th September 2020 / COVID19 - UPDATE

Covid 19- Update. Here at Seaham Golf Club we have been following the advice of the government and England golf vigilantly to ensure the safety of our members and visitors since the outbreak of the virus. From the 30th September new local restrictions and laws have been implemented meaning the following changes will be made with immediate effect.

·         The Clubhouse will close until further notice. The planned refurbishment of the bar area will take place during this time to ensure we don’t have any further disruption when the restrictions are lifted.

·         The locker room will be open for toilet and hand washing facilities only with a maximum of 4 people allowed in at any one time. We ask that all members use this weekend to collect their golf equipment whilst observing the social distancing guidelines in place. Members and visitors must wear a face covering whilst in the locker room and must not congregate or socialise in the area.

. We will also be reinstating the requirement to  exit the course via the gate behind the 18th green.

·         The Government also advises that you should not meet with people you do not live with, unless they’re in your support bubble, in any outdoor public venues. This includes outdoor areas of venues (such as a beer garden) and areas directly outside of settings or venues, such as the pavement or road and parks. This applies to inside and outside of the affected local areas. With this in mind we ask our members and visitors to leave promptly upon completion of the round.

There are no changes to the guidance for playing golf please see recap below.

On the Course

  • Stay 2 metres apart from others at all times whilst on the tee, walking between holes and searching for balls.
  • Do not touch stray balls.
  • Do not touch the flagstick.
  • Rakes will be removed from bunkers. If your ball lands in a bunker you should give yourself a preferred lie. Please then smooth over the bunker with your club or feet.
  • After the round
  • Do not shake hands with anybody.
  • General facilities
  • Hand washing facilities and paper towels will be available in the locker room at all times.
